Field Day

Image of Field Day Logo

Attention Parent and/or Guardian;

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, June 7th for LJES Field Day 2018.  Mr. Kuhn has been busy planning and coordinating this exciting day for all the students at LJES.  Please have your child bring a hat, a bottle of sunscreen, a towel and a water bottle.  Students also need to wear athletic shoes because they will be walking and moving all day.

Students will be eating in the cafeteria as usual on Field Day.  Parents will not be allowed to eat in the cafeteria on Field Day because of space issues.  The cafeteria will also only have enough food to feed the students and not parents too.

If it looks like rain on Field Day, please send a board game with your child.  Some of the Field Day events will be moved indoors in the event of rain.   Teachers will have plenty of activities planned in their classrooms if it rains.

If you would like to volunteer to help with an event on Field Day please let Mr. Kuhn know by the end of May.  Please make sure you have a background check on file with our school if you will be volunteering.  You can choose to help with an event for part or all of the school day.  Let’s hope for great weather on Field Day and let the games begin!

Important Immunization Changes

Important immunization changes are outlined in 902 KAR 2:060 for 2018-2019 school year.  Please note the following changes in order for your child to attend school:

  • Effective July 1, 2018:  ALL students in kindergarten through twelfth grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school.  These 2 shots must be given 6 months apart.  Please DON’T DELAY in getting these started.  Students will need to have the first dose before January and the second dose by July 1st.  This is a NEW school requirement.  Therefore, if your child has already been vaccinated, the school will need the certifications showing proof in order to enroll your child for the 2018-2019 school year.

  • Students aged 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal vaccine to attend school.   If the first dose of meningitis vaccine was received at age sixteen (16) years or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.
