August 2014 Minutes

SBDM Council Meeting

August 18, 2014

Members present:  David Pate, Karen Liebert-German,  Beth Lehue, Michelle Clark, Brandi Bucci

Not Present:  Anna Schneider

Approval of Agenda-    A motion to approve the agenda was made by Karen Liebert-German and a second followed by Brandi Bucci.  Motion carried.  Motion passed by unanimous vote.

New Business:

Regular Meeting schedule for 2014-15 school year

Tentative Dates:  September 8, October 20, Novemeber 10, December 8, January 12, February 9, March 16, April 20, May 11.  All meetings will begin at 4:00.  A motion to approve the dates was made by Brandi Bucci.  A second followed by Michelle Clark.  Motion carried.  Motion passed by unanimous vote.

SBDM Secretary

Beth Lehue volunteered to be the SBDM Secretary for the 2014-15 school year.  A motion to approve the secretary was made by Karen German-Liebert.  A second followed by Brandi Bucci.  Motion carried.  Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Criminal Background Checks

All criminal background checks for parent members must be completed by August 29, 2014.

Open Meetings and Records Update Certification

Title 1 Plan/Budget Change

The Title 1 Budget is used to pay the 2 least expensive teachers.  It was found that RtI could be covered while removing one Instructional Assistant.  This altered the budget to reflect a savings of $15,000.  A motion to approve the budget was made Brandi Bucci.  A second followed by Beth Lehue.  Motion carried.  Motion passed by unanimous vote. 

RTI/WIN Time

RTI/WIN time will be provided by 2 Instructional Tutors and the 4 Special Area teachers. 

ESS Personnel

Two additional Instructional Assistants will be recommended for hire for RTI in Math. 

2014-15 Enrollment

PreK-5th Grade enrollment is 556 students (516 + 40 preK). 

Classroom Cap Size

Primary class will cap at 26 students.  Fourth grade will cap at 30 students.  Fifth grade will cap at 31 students, if needed.  A motion to increase the cap size was made by Brandi Bucci.  A second followed by Michelle Clark.  Motion carried.  Motion passed by unanimous vote.

  • By laws
  • Board of Education SBDM Policy
  • All Council Policies
  • Summary budgets and spending reports for present school year and last school year
  • Current (CSIP) – Comprehensive School Improvement Plan- updated coming soon.

Adjournment

Brandi Bucci made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Karen Liebert-German made a second motion.  Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 4:55 pm.
