ZMS Bands earned Distinguished at KMEA ZMS Distinguished certificates

From our teacher of the year, band director Eve Witt

Another successful Solo and Ensemble in the books for my ZMS band kiddos. 28 Distinguished ratings and 13 Proficients. We had several last minute substitutions due to illness, sports conflicts, etc, but all the kids still pulled out successful performances. I am super proud of their hard work, musicality, professionalism, and kindness towards their peers who would have had to cancel if no one had stepped up to help. I my students!!

The seventh and eighth-grade bands each earned a KMEA Distinguished ratings. I believe this is the fifth consecutive year for ZMS to earn Distinguished. However, it is the first year that I have taken the seventh grade band as a separate group. They were actually joined by 5 sixth graders who strengthened the group. It was a very successful day for all of us and our students really made ZMS look and sound awesome. We had several compliments from the judges on our professional on stage presence and our amazing and mature ensemble sound!
