FAL Presentation Broad Overview                       Formative Assessment Lessons

These tasks can be used to form into FAL’s.  2/3 of the way down you can click on “Primary” and “Elementary” to view those tasks specifically.

This quick read is a brief on the 5 key strategies of Formal Assessment.  This is basically the premise that FAL’s and true student exploration is built upon. I recommend this to all teachers and admins as a prerequisite to my FAL presentation.  However, these strategies should have a daily existence in each class.  This has been a key handout for my FAL presentations and my math workshop work with some of my teachers.

  • This is a nice site that describes ALL the standards for teachers and can give them an easy vantage of the vertical progression of the standards.  This is especially is great for Special Education and those that need a multi-grade understanding of the math curriculum. The chart is clickable by grade and/or math strand.  The info also includes examples for each standard.

  • This site has some plain language breakdown of grade level expectations.  It also has “problems of the month”. It also has some of the MARS tasks (main FAL task creators). Excellent site.
