Mentoring Project between Mt. Washington Middle and Crossroads Elementary School Students
Seventh grade pre-AP students in Michelle Chitwood's class were paired with Rebecca Johnson's 2nd grade students. The seventh grade students interviewed their partner, played games and hosted a Christmas party including gifts! The project began in the fall and the last time students met together was the last week of school. Seventh grade students wrote a short story as the second grader as the main character. Susan Vincentz taught students how to use pictures of the kids as illustrations for the story. Each student was given their book, complete with a dedication page, pictures, and glossary of vocabulary words. Mt. Washington Middle School students Beth Woods, Emily Warren, Claire Carney, Jes Milburn, Addison Brown, Andrea Foley, Alyssia Pilkerton, Grayson Adams and Tricia Reuss mentored Crossroads Elementary School students.
