Invitational Chess Tournament
Students from all grade levels squared off Oct. 24 in the fourth annual invitational chess tournament hosted at Bullitt Lick Middle School. Chess opponents took notes before and after each move. Players concentrate on their chess pieces and making the most strategic move. School chess coaches, such as Arturo Freire-Bracho of Bullitt Central High School, watch the matches with interest. Fourth annual invitational chess tournament. Elementary age youth participated in the chess tournament. For the youngest players, it was a much about learning chess moves as it was about winning a match. Between matches, chess coaches such as Kris Hunt of Crossroads Elementary School taught strategic moves to players. Doug Henry of Bullitt Lick watches a particular intense chess match.
