The North Bullitt High School JROTC Battalions Operations Officer, Operations Assistant, and Executive Officer organize and host an annual Veterans Day ceremony.
This year’s event is scheduled for Friday Nov. 10 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
C/1LT Battalion S5 (Recruiting Officer - LET4) Claudia Cornett said it is imperative all citizens honor veterans.
“It is the importance of recognizing and remembering people who have served in our Armed Forces and the sacrifices they have given to insure that we maintain our freedoms,” she said.
The ceremony features North Bullitt alumnae who have served in the military. This year’s guest speaker, Captain Jason Selby, embodies that leadership.
North Bullitt staff who served in the military will be recognized for their service.
The JROTC Color Guard Team will provide the Presentation of the Colors. The Star Spangled Banner will be performed then a video shown of a JROTC production “Our America.”
The leaders of North Bullitt’s JROTC department are Major Kevin Clark and First Sergeant Eugene Siler.
“They guide us as we learn to become leaders,” Cornett affirmed. “They give us freedom to express our different styles of learning. They dedicate time and energy toward the cadets in this program not only during school, but in the mornings as well as in the afternoons that follow. They give us their weekends for meets and they give us their dedication to help us become better citizens.”
Veterans Day has been observed each November 11 since 1938.
