Dear Middle & High School Students & Parents,

Bullitt County is a recipient of a federal grant to implement Mandatory Random Student Drug Testing.  The Office of National Drug Control Policy has teamed up with the U. S. Department of Education to fund and organize this grant program in an effort to help prevent students from experimenting with illegal substances.  Bullitt County wants to see all students be successful and make healthy choices for their lives; therefore, the drug testing program has a prevention NOT punishment focus.  Our hope is that the program will help students resist any pressures they may feel to participate in unhealthy or dangerous activities.   This program will be mandatory for all middle and high school students involved in extracurricular competitive sports or activities.  Students that are not involved in these may be part of a voluntary drug testing program.

This booklet provides the policy and procedure for the student drug testing program with commonly asked questions at the end. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact me at the Board of Education office.

Sincerely,

Jaime Goldsmith
