The 2010-2011 school year commenced on a smooth note in Bullitt County Public Schools.
Crossroads became the 13th elementary school opening its doors to over 450 students on August 11th.
A brand new Brooks Elementary School, complete with colorful skylights; excited both students and staff.
Principals were given permission to allow students to take water bottles on the bus until the heat wave is over. Parents can also send bottled water with their kids as they board the bus in the morning.
Parents who signed up for their child’s school email received comments below from their respective principals:
“What a great beginning to the 2010-2011 school year! Traffic, schedules, students, etc……all went very well this morning. 1250+ excited students made their way this morning and are off and running,” – Christy Coulter, Principal, Bullitt Central High School.
“Welcome back to the 2010-2011 school year. We have had a very successful first day of school and I would like to thank you for doing your part to get your child to school today. We have approximately 475 students in attendance today. Students seem very eager to get back into the swing of things and the teachers are ready to get the learning started,” – Denise Allen, Principal, Mt. Washington Middle School.
“Today was a fantastic day at Bullitt Lick Middle School! The students came in excited and happy and ready to learn! This was one of the smoothest school opening days we have ever seen. If this is previews of coming attractions, we can’t wait for the movie!” – Johnda Conley, Principal, Bullitt Lick Middle School.
“In 16 years of teaching, this is the best opening day ever. It’s going to be a great school year thanks to you,” (her students) – Robin Handloser, Teacher, Bullitt Lick Middle School.
“Well the day has arrived and I know everyone is excited and maybe a bit apprehensive about how the school year will go. Let me put your mind at ease that your child is in very capable hands. We have an amazing staff that works together more as a family than as a staff. We will do everything within our power to give each student exactly what he or she needs to be a well-rounded individual.” – Donna Taylor, Principal, Nichols Elementary School.
“I want to thank everyone for an AWESOME first day at CGES. Our students and teachers started instruction between 9:15 and 9:20. Everyone did a great job with the new car rider line procedures. Breakfast and lunch went well with the new kitchen lines. Overall, I couldn’t be more proud of our faculty and staff, students, parents and community for the way the first day(most hectic and exciting day) went.” – Andy Moberly, Principal, Cedar Grove Elementary School.
“Thanks to the hard work of a great staff and a wonderful school community, our day went very smoothly. (Thank you volunteers!!) Instruction was underway by 9:15 this morning. As I visited classrooms today, I saw lots of smiling faces! It was a great learning day! All students were loaded on buses by 4:10 this afternoon. That’s a great day by any standard.” Terri Lewis, Principal, Mt. Washington Elementary School.
“This has been the smoothest transition yet at Zoneton Middle School. By 7:56 a.m. all students were in their homerooms and ready to begin the 2010 – 2011 school year. Assistant Principal Chad Buckman and I walked through the building and all students were attentive and listening to their teachers.” – Rita Muratalla, Principal, Zoneton Middle School.
It is going to be another great school year in Bullitt County Public Schools, the Leader in Educational Excellence!
