Annual Public Notice: Child Find

Child Find Notice

Public Notice – Child Find

Bullitt County School District is required to locate, evaluate, and identify children with disabilities who live within the district, regardless of the severity of the disability.  This includes children attending private schools, highly mobile children, such as migrant and homeless children, and children who are suspected of having a disability and in need of special education/504 services even though they are advancing from grade to grade.  The Bullitt County School District assures that it will provide a free, appropriate public education (FAPE) to all eligible children with disabilities between the ages 3 and 21 within the district.  Disabilities include autism, cognitive impairments, deaf/blindness, emotional disorders, hearing impairment and deafness,  multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairments, specific learning disabilities, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment/blindness and young child with a  developmental delay.

Bullitt County School District will collaborate with First Steps to provide information and assist with the referral necessary for the implementation of early interventions services for eligible 3 year olds.

“Child Find” activities will continue throughout the school year.  As part of these efforts the Bullitt County School District will use screening information, student records, and basic assessment information it collects on all children/youth in the district to help locate those children/youth who have disabilities and need Special Education or 504 services.  Any information the district collects through “child find” is maintained confidentially.
