Jennifer Wooley Speaks at National Human Resources Boot Camp in Texas

Jennifer Wooley

Director of Human Resources Jennifer Wooley presented at the American Association of School Personnel Administrators Boot Camp in San Antonio, TX. Jan. 31-Feb. 1.

Wooley spoke on Recruiting and Onboarding New Teachers and Administrators offering suggestions for attendees to gather some new ideas for recruiting and onboarding new educators in their districts.

“We took a look at a number of ideas including a district recruitment fair, new educator induction, principal internship program, and onboarding meetings for new principals, to name a few,” she said.

Wooley also spoke on Stop Procrastinating! Eat That Frog!

“We focused on the important work and keeping technology from dominating your time,” she explained. “We also did a concise summary of author Brian Tracy’s book Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time.”

Wooley said the Boot Camp is held in different regions two times per year.

“I have attended three AASPA Boot Camps and this was my second one to serve as a presenter,” she said.

There were approximately 100 people at the Boot Camp this time. Wooley said 35 people attended her session on Thursday and 39 attended the Friday session.

Wooley said after the presentations, Boot Camp participants approached her with positive comments.

“There were several attendees that approached me to discuss the sessions,” she noted. “Also, both groups were great at participating in discussions with me and as a group during the presentations.”

Wooley said when presenting at any HR event, it is her goal to provide the attendees with some tools and techniques they can take back to their districts to implement.

“We all seek improvement in our work and I hope to assist others as much as possible,” she affirmed. “National events also give us the opportunity to network with HR specialists across the country which broadens the opportunities for growth.”

Wooley is in her fourth year as President of the Kentucky Association of School Human Resources Managers (KASHRM). Last fall, she served as a presenter and moved from Vice Chairperson to Chairperson of the Professional Development Committee at AASPA’s 80th annual conference in Minneapolis, MN.

“KASHRM will be hosting our fourth annual Boot Camp March 12 at the GRREC office, which I mirrored after AASPA’s concept,” she said. “I will facilitate the day’s events and am excited to be utilizing four of Kentucky’s HR Directors as presenters for this Boot Camp along with KASA’s Executive Director Wayne Young.”
