Roby Pirate Leaders and Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  Our staff pirate leaders have been working hard to prepare the building for our “Pirate Leaders” to come back on Wednesday. We are excited to continue our leadership work with Leader in Me while preparing each child to be Middle School Ready. Your child will be coming home talking about the seven habits of leadership and how they are goal setting to become Middle School Ready.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 9, 2017!  Doors open at 8:40 and instruction will begin at 9:10.  All parents are welcome to walk their student to class on the first day.  Kindergarten parents are welcome to walk their student to their classroom for the first three days.  We appreciate your interest in your child’s education, but this is not the time to conference with their teacher.  If you need to speak with your child’s teacher at any time please contact them by phone or email to set up an appointment.

Please be patient with our dismissal procedures during the first few days of school.  We want to make sure that every student gets on the correct bus in a safe manner and car riders get placed in their appropriate area.  In order to help us with the dismissal procedures, we ask that you make sure your student’s car rider tag is visible and ready when coming through the car rider line.  We also ask that you avoid parking in the parking lot to come get your child; this is a safety issue which is a top priority.

All students should be in dress code beginning the first day of school.  The dress code will be enforced and the expectation is that all students have the appropriate attire to begin the school year.  Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes to school every day, they will be participating in physical activities and this helps to prevent any safety issues.  If you need assistance with clothing, please contact Jacey Smothers our Family Resource Coordinator.

If you are planning to volunteer or attend a field trip this year, come see Mrs. O’Keefe in the front office to complete a background check.  The background check is $10.00 cash or a check made out to Roby.

Pre-school and grades K-5 Title 1 Open House is Monday, August 7, 2016 from 5:00 PM-6:30 PM.  This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and drop off supplies for the classroom.  The PTA will be hosting the Back To School Bash at this time and will be here to accept memberships and sell Roby t-shirts; we hope to see you there!

We are looking forward to a great year and are excited you are part of the Roby Pirate Family!

Mrs. Knipp and Crew
