Karen Liebert-German – Reading Specialist

Mrs. Liebert-German and family

Hello Stingrays!  My name is Karen Liebert-German. I am in my 18th year teaching.  I taught 1st grade for 5 years.  Currently, for 13 years, I have been a Reading Recovery and Intervention teacher.  I work with students who have difficulty with reading and need instruction that is more specialized. I love to watch my students discover the joys of reading.   My focus is teaching strategies to become readers.

When I went to Lindsey Wilson College, I double majored in Accounting and Elementary Education.  My heart and passion has always been with elementary aged students.   I believe in continued learning so I received my Masters of Education, through the University of Louisville, as a Literacy Specialist, with an emphasis in reading and writing.    I am a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Literacy.

My husband and I love spending time with our sons, Kaleb and Kipp. I grew up with only sisters so I am learning the world of Star Wars, Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles.  My family means the world to me.  In my free time, I love to read, swim and be outdoors. As a family, we spend lots of time at the zoo and playing together.

I am looking forward to a great year!
