Robotics Team

Robotics members participate in one of two programs. Students start in the FIRST Lego League program. Each team competes in a state qualifier in order to gain the opportunity to advance to state and national championships. Local scrimmages may also be a part of this program. The build and competition season runs from August - December. State competition is held in February. Practices are held twice weekly (normally Monday and Thursday evenings) and include one mandatory Saturday. A parent/student meeting, along with try-outs, are held in mid August.

Students that are in 8th grade, or those that have previously participated in FLL (or equivalent program) for at least two seasons may try-out for our FIRST Tech Challenge team. This is a hybrid team of middle and high school students (7th -12th grades) that allows students to continue their STEM journey through high school. This team may compete in local, regional and national events. The build and competition season begins in late September and continues through the beginning of March. Practices are held once weekly (Friday evenings) until January, and then begin twice weekly.

A national program overview may be found at under FLL (FIRST Lego League) or FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge).
