Bullitt County Public Schools was awarded a $54,000 grant from the 65th annual WHAS Crusade for Children.

The funds will be used to enhance education for approximately 500 special needs students at all grade levels by purchasing occupational and physical therapy equipment, curriculum and assistive technology devices.

Items such as Pea Pod Chairs, Minds in Motion supplies, sensory weighted materials, gait trainers, recovery couches, the Shoebox Task curriculum, Edmark Reading, Unique Reading and News 2 You and Read and Write Gold will be invested in various classrooms.

Director of Special Education Troy Kolb thanked the Crusade Board of Directors for their generosity.

“I am very happy. The entire amount requested this school year was fully funded,” he said. “Our appreciation is extended to the citizens of Bullitt County who gave so generously and Crusade officials who honored this important need for our students.”

The bulk of Crusade fundraising is done by firefighters. This year’s contributions totaled $165,000.
