BEHS student selected for Education Commissioner’s Student Advisory Council

Mrs. Stewart, Emma, Mr. Fulghum

Congratulations to BEHS student Emma Whitehouse who was selected to be a member of the Education Commissioner’s Student Advisory Council for the 2021-2022 school year. Emma was one of 18 students selected from 350 applicants.

The Council was established to provide feedback on critical issues impacting students and schools, and works with KDE staff to develop ideas to strengthen student voice and transform education. The group meets with the Commissioner and KDE staff, both in person and virtually, to discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Kentucky.

Mr. Fulghum and Mrs. Stewart encouraged Emma to apply when they saw the press release asking for applicants, and were thrilled when she chose to do so. They were even more thrilled when she was selected! BEHS is super proud she will be a voice for Kentucky students statewide.
