It is hard to believe that the Thanksgiving season is already upon us. During this time, when we traditionally pause to give thanks for the many blessings we have received, I want to express my personal gratitude to our students, staff, families, and the entire BCPS Community. The last year and half has certainly challenged and tested us, and I believe will ultimately prove to have made us stronger. As we reflect on the many things for which we are thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share with you a few things I am thankful for this season.
I am thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn. You give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. I am continually inspired by your imagination, thoughtfulness, and caring spirit. You are becoming critical thinkers, innovative problem-solvers, and effective communicators and we are proud of the resiliency you continue to show each and every day.
I am thankful for our teachers, assistants, counselors, health aides, bus drivers, monitors, secretaries, nurses, lunchroom aides, support staff, therapists, administrators, coaches, and volunteers who really care about student success and have the best interests of our students at heart. In these most difficult and challenging times, these dedicated professionals have tirelessly gone above and beyond to make sure that great things continue to happen in our schools. They absolutely make a difference, and our students benefit from those efforts.
I am thankful for the support of our parents and guardians for continuing to have faith in us. Thank you for continuing to share your most valuable possession and working with us as a partner in your children’s education, safety, and well-being. Your children are remarkable: they’re curious and imaginative, hardworking, and bring us joy every single day. They inspire us to do our very best for them. Thank you for your commitment and all that you do to support their learning at home.
I am thankful for our community and the unwavering support and opportunities you bring to our students and schools. From volunteers who help in classrooms and buildings, to community organizations and businesses who partner with us to help provide more authentic learning experiences to our kids … you have stood by us with limitless passion, commitment, and support. We could never reach our vision as a district without you.
On behalf of the Bullitt County Public School District, I wish all of you and your families a happy, healthy, and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!
Stay healthy and stay safe,
Dr. Jesse Bacon, Superintendent
