BCPS schools observe Thanksgiving and help those in need

Cedar Grove

Each of our schools recognizes Thanksgiving in a different way. We wanted to highlight a few ways our schools are educating our students about this holiday or helping those in need.

Cedar Grove Elementary School

Mrs. French’s third grade social studies students have been learning about the Native American Heritage. As we approach Thanksgiving, it's easy to get caught up in the good food and much needed family time we are fortunate to have. However, it’s also important to recognize the tremendous contributions Native Americans have made to the country we know today.

Cedar Grove said on their Facebook page, “This month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories, and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people.”

Freedom Elementary School

FES puts together Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. If you’re a FES family and would like one, please contact Mrs. Bishop.

Maryville Elementary School

During the week of Thanksgiving, Maryville's staff fills their Facebook and Class Dojo with messages of gratitude and thankfulness for their students and staff. If you’re a MES family and have a moment, please consider filling out a staff shout out for someone who has made a positive impact on your Patriot here

In addition, the MES Food Pantry is collecting canned goods and nonperishable food items.

Bernheim Middle School

BMS students brought in food items for their annual food drive this week. This food will be donated to help local families in need.

North Bullitt High School

North Bullitt’s VIP Club worked hard to make the NB Thankful Turkey. Students submitted what they were thankful for to share with the school. #thankfulthursday

Bullitt Central High School

If you’re a BCHS family and could benefit from a Thanksgiving food box, please complete the following form. The number of boxes are limited and families will be contacted if they are receiving a box. If you have any questions please contact christy.hardin2@bullitt.kyschools.us
