Wrestling team has successful season so far

BE Wrestling

BE is incredibly proud of our Wrestling team, which continues to grow and be successful in its endeavors. The program grew from twenty student athletes to thirty-seven this year, with only three seniors and three juniors -- with thirty-one underclassmen participating.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team has not had many opportunities to compete this year, but that hasn’t stopped the athletes from working hard and competing well when able. The team is currently 8-7 in dual meets this season, led by senior, Matthew Hendricks.

“Matthew is one of our most experienced wrestlers; he is a returning region champion and has an individual record of 15-3,” says Coach Faucett. “Other wrestlers that are putting together nice seasons include freshmen Nathanial Goff (12-5), Alex Sauss (12-5), and Bryant Faucett (12-3); juniors Kyle Muoy (11-7) and Jansen Hayden (9-8), and 8th grader Jack Willard (11-7). We hope to get sophomore and returning champion Logan Wells back from an injury soon to add experience and depth to a very young team.”

Last season the team had a school record of seven wrestlers qualify for the State Tournament. The team hopes to repeat or better that number this year.

“Our goal from the start of this season has been to improve every week as we get closer to the region tournament,” says Coach Faucett. They have been on track for that goal so far.
