Bullitt County Public Schools: The Leader in Educational Excellence

Bullitt East High School Welcomes New Youth Service Center Coordinator Erin Emington White

Erin Emington White

Erin Emington White is the new Youth Service Center Coordinator at Bullitt East High School.

“I am very excited about the opportunity,” she said. “I am joining a fantastic school family with a solid leadership team and staff that truly care about the students and want each and every one to be successful.”

Bullitt East was among a handful of schools and one of the final facilities to qualify for an YSC Coordinator whose role is to reduce barriers to student learning.

"I have always been very passionate about breaking down non-academic barriers to learning for children of all ages,” she said. “When the position at Bullitt East opened up, I did not hesitate to apply.”

Her YSC goal at Bullitt East is to take care of the students’ needs that are not related to their academic abilities.

“Allowing the student to focus on academics to become successful at school…I hope to accomplish this through connecting students to resources and providing quality programming for the school,” White affirmed.

She considers the biggest obstacle for students is having to deal with life outside of the classroom.

“Some of our students are taking care of younger siblings, not knowing where their next meal is coming from or having to cope with substance use within the family,” White said. “And some of our students have peer relation issues that arise which need to be addressed for them to focus on their academic work.”

The office hours for the Youth Service Center are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. The telephone number is (502) 869-6512. Her email is

For the past 6½ years, White has been a therapist working at a non-profit agency in New Albany, IN. She worked with families in their homes and in the school environment. Before therapy, she was an event planner, who planned many events from large fundraising galas to weddings.

“Both previous roles as a therapist and an event planner will aid in my new role as Youth Services Coordinator with Bullitt East by connecting with students and families and being able to produce activities for the students,” she said.

White noted that every one of the FRYSC colleagues have been very helpful in her transition to Bullitt County Public Schools.

“I could not ask for better coworkers,” she said. “The 13 women that make the FRYSC team, (led by the remarkable Susan Bibelhauser), are some of the most compassionate, knowledgeable, intelligent people I have ever met.”

White is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

She earned a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Indiana University Southeast.

White worked most recently as In School Clinical Specialist at the Home of the Innocents in New Albany, Ind. Prior to that, she served as an Interventionist for First Steps Next Research at the University of Louisville and as a Home-Based Therapist for LifeSpring Mental Health Systems.
