Principals Week: North Middle and Elementary Schools

North

October is National Principals Month, with October 19-23 designated as Principals Week. We would like to recognize our middle and elementary school principals for the commitment and dedication they bring to their buildings.

Brooks Elementary School

Brooks Elementary School Principal Betty Jo Davis served the school previously as an Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal. The Brooks community has become a second family to her and it is humbling and an honor for her to have the opportunity to continue working here and serve in this role. This is Mrs. Davis’ first stint as a school principal after having served as Assistant Principal for Junction City Elementary School in Junction City, KY and Curriculum Coach/Special Education Teacher for Junction City Elementary. Mrs. Davis earned her Principal Certification from Eastern Kentucky University; a Master of Arts in Special Education from Campbellsville University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Kentucky. She is National Board Certified in K-12 Literacy. Thank you, Mrs. Davis, for your dedication and support to the students and staff of Brooks Elementary School!

Freedom Elementary School

Freedom Elementary School Principal Matt Treadway said since its opening, Freedom has prided itself on high academic achievement. It is his sincere hope to continue that call in the coming years. High academic expectations coupled with a sincere and genuine care for each student that enters the building will be the foundation on which everyone continues to move forward. The ceiling for Freedom Elementary School is incredibly high if everyone works together to put students first. Communication is a critical piece and Mr. Treadway strongly encourages taking a few minutes to follow Freedom Elementary School on Facebook and subscribe to their E-News. Thank you, Mr. Treadway, for your dedication and support for the students and staff at Freedom Elementary School!

Hebron Middle School

Hebron Middle School Principal Kelland Garland feels that that education is a tool to change your world, regardless of your background or circumstances. Mr. Garland earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education Studies from Berea College, a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Louisville and a Rank I in Educational Leadership from University of Cincinnati. Thank you, Mr. Garland, for your dedication and support to the students and staff of Hebron Middle School.

Maryville Elementary School

Maryville Elementary School Principal Ann Louise Hance believes strong relationships stand at the foundation of a successful school and she could not pass up the opportunity to build upon this. It is exciting to think about all of the great things that can be done at Maryville. She feels teaching a variety of grades has allowed her to form strong relationships with students of all ages and from many backgrounds. It has also grown her knowledge around curriculum ensuring that students receive strong instruction in all areas. Thank you, Ms. Hance, for your dedication and support of the students and staff at Maryville Elementary School!

Overdale Elementary School

Overdale Elementary School Principal Dana Brown’s top priority is to provide students with a safe and effective learning environment, full of rich experiences. Overdale is a community where children are first and education is the number one priority. With parents and teachers working together as a team every child will succeed. Mrs. Brown highly encourages parents to be involved in all the exciting things happening at Overdale. Communication is an essential part of this partnership and she strives to keep parents informed and included in what is going on at Overdale. Educating children requires that we all work together and the Overdale family is an outstanding example of teamwork! Thank you, Ms. Brown, for your dedication and support of the students and staff at Overdale Elementary School!
