District Earns Awards at STAK Conference

STAK Conference Awards

The Bullitt County Public Schools Transportation Maintenance Department was awarded the highest honor of Outstanding Maintenance Department at the Student Transportation Association of Kentucky (STAK) 25th annual conference July 8-11 at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville.

District Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Eddie Clan was present to receive the Outstanding Maintenance Department award. Clan was shown support by Director of Transportation Tony Roth and Driver Trainers David Phelps and Barry Netherton.

“It is an honor for the district to receive the award,” Roth said. “It recognizes the outstanding job Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Eddie Clan and his staff of Mechanics Ricky Huff, Howard Nelson, Jamie Greenwell, Aaron Maupin, David Edwards and Parts Clerk Tony Ashbaugh do to keep the buses running safely in Bullitt County.”

This is the first time the district maintenance department has earned the award. Roth explained an audit of the program this spring by a state contractor impressed that contractor through the department’s thoroughness that she nominated the department for the award.

In addition to being named the Outstanding Maintenance Department, school bus driver Michelle Crenshaw was awarded the Above and Beyond Award for her efforts in saving the life of Eastside Middle School student Zoe Thomas.

“I was very honored to accept the award; however, I am aware the award I received is a blessing I share with everyone involved with the miracle that occurred in Zoe that day! I did not act alone, and, most of all I am grateful to God for answered prayers!” Crenshaw reflected.
