Each week, we will be highlighting a “Transformational Lesson of the Week” to showcase the incredible teaching and learning happening at BCHS. This week, we are proud to recognize Mr. Jackson! In Algebra 2, Mr. Jackson’s students brought math to life by constructing matrices through a creative project—designing food stands and gift shops for an amusement park! Students personalized their parks based on their own interests, making the project both meaningful and fun. The lesson was a powerful example of collaboration, real-world application, and deep learning. Mr. Jackson was selected for this recognition because of: ✅ Collaboration with his PLC – aligning instruction and building consistency across the team. ✅ Real-World Connections – showing students how abstract math concepts directly apply to practical, creative projects. ✅ Clear Expectations & Student Ownership – providing a rubric so students knew what success looked like and could self-assess along the way. ✅ Graduate Profile Competencies – students grew as Productive Collaborators, Innovative Problem-Solvers, and Mastery Learners throughout the lesson. This is a perfect example of transformational learning that prepares students not only for success in class, but also for life beyond high school. 🎉 #BuildTheLegacy #WeAreBC 🐾
