ATTENDANCE MATTERS

02/02/2024

Nichols Knights Families,

Happy Groundhog Day!

Earlier this week, we made it past the 100 days of school mark! The students have also been in a tizzy thanks to the prospect of an early spring! The sunshine and warmer weather have made everyone at Nichols very happy the past two days. We hope that the groundhogs prediction comes true, but do be prepared for whatever weather comes our way.

Along with the slight change in weather, we are seeing an uptick in illnesses for both our students and staff. Attendance for this week has been hit pretty hard because of it. We hope that everyone can take the time to rest and recover over the weekend.

P.S. Congratulations to Mrs. Ferrell’s fourth grade class for winning the Texas Roadhouse fundraiser prize! They got to enjoy some delicious food provided by TXRH. We thank you for your support!

Today’s tidbit from the Student Handbook is about:

MEDICATION INFORMATION

    • Medication shall be brought to school in the original prescription container by an adult.  Students MAY NOT carry medication on them unless a doctor has stated otherwise.

    • Information listed on the container shall include the student’s name and the name of the prescribed medication as well as the dosage of medication with all dates listed.

    • Students taking prescription drugs while at school or at a school related activity must register their medications with the office.

    • MEDICATIONS MUST BE IN THE ORIGINAL CONTAINER.

  • All prescription medications must be accompanied by a completed form with the doctor and parent signature.  Over-the-counter medications must also be accompanied by the appropriate form signed by the parent.

  • Over-the-counter medications may only be administered and/or dispensed for a 3-day period.

  • Over–the-counter medications needed for more than 3 days will require the appropriate form signed by a doctor and a parent.

  • Cough drops are considered over-the-counter medications and will require the necessary paperwork.  Handwritten parent notes are not permitted for cough drops.
