ATTENDANCE MATTERS

02/16/2024

Nichols Knights Families,

We are halfway through February! On Valentine’s Day, our students got to enjoy the afternoon with their classmates for Friendship Parties. We always appreciate our Nichols parents and guardians that provide treats and snacks, and those that come in to volunteer for party days. Thank you!

Today, Ms. Quiggin’s 5th grade class took a deep dive into history by theming their whole day around the Boston Tea Party! They completed STEM activities, gave their “taxes” to Queen Georgette III and rounded out the afternoon by dumping their “tea” in the harbor and having a tea party!

We couldn’t leave without giving a big THANK YOU to Mrs. Clark for coordinating another great Kindness Week. As this week comes to a close, please remember to be a friend and spread joy wherever you are! Kindness can change lives!

We are still seeing a lot of illness this month so today’s tidbit from the Student Handbook is a repeat about:

HEALTH INFORMATION

  • Please keep your child at home if they are truly sick.

  • We will call you to come pick up your child for the following reasons:

    • A temperature of 100.4 or higher

    • Vomiting

    • Diarrhea

  • If we call you to pick up your child for the reasons listed above, the absence will be excused.  The following day will also be excused because your child should be fever-free (without the use of fever reducing agents) and vomit or diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Children who are suspected of having pink eye, head lice, fifths disease, hand/foot/mouth disease or chicken pox cannot remain in the classroom at the risk of infecting other students and should be kept home, or sent to the front office immediately, and cannot return to school until they have been released to return to school by a physician or the health department.

Upcoming dates:

March 1 - Quarter 3 Ends
