Nichols Knights Families,

Happy Read Across America week! In case you didn’t know, Read Across America is the nation’s largest annual celebration of reading. To celebrate here at Nichols, each morning we had a teacher swap where they got to share their favorite books and stories with different classes. We celebrated in another way with our “This or That” dress up days! We love to see our students having fun. Special thanks to Mrs. Belcher, FRC, for generously providing book prizes to randomly selected students and teachers. We're also grateful to our community partners at the Nichols Branch Public Library for their contributions to the week's events. We hope all of our Knights had a great week!

Today’s tidbit from the Student Handbook is a repeat about:

FIELD TRIPS/FIELD DAY

  • Field Trips are a part of the instructional program and must make a definite contribution to an activity, project or subject area.  The teacher will send home a permission slip that gives all information concerning the trip.

  • Students are not allowed to participate in a field trip without a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian.

  • In order to act as a parent chaperone, a criminal record background check must be on file and approved prior to the trip.

  • Criminal Checks MUST be done once every two years.

  • Chaperones may not bring siblings on field trips since, as chaperones, they are being relied upon to supervise a group of students.

  • Only students/children enrolled at NES may attend field trips or participate in field day.

  • Younger siblings (not yet school age) may attend field day to visit but, for safety reasons, cannot participate in field day events.

Upcoming dates:

March 11 - Bullitt Day (No School) and Kindergarten Pre-registration day

March 21- PTA Meeting 6pm

Have a wonderful weekend!
