Elementary and Middle Transportation Support

September 27, 2023

BCPS Families,

Last year, BCPS began a partnership with the YMCA for students whose buses were canceled. We are excited to share that this partnership will continue this school year and will now be available for our elementary and middle school families beginning on Tuesday, October 10th!

Things to know:

  • There is no cost to you for participating in the YMCA due to a bus cancellation.

  • On days your family is eligible for this program, you will receive a text and/or email from our Department of Transportation. This message will contain a link to the YMCA registration form and a BCPS Google Form.

    • The YMCA form requests a wallet size photo and immunization records, but you may submit those documents at a later date, if necessary.

    • You only have to complete the YMCA form once per year.

    • On the Google Form, you may select whether your child will participate in the YMCA that day for the morning, afternoon, or both.

  • YMCA morning drop off begins at 7am, and afternoon pick up ends at 5:30pm.

  • Elementary students must attend the YMCA program of the school they attend.

  • If your child is attending a school without a YMCA program, you will be directed to the nearest school.

    • The Google Form will tell you the YMCA location for your child.

    • Morning students should drop off at the indicated school and will then be shuttled to their regular school for the school day.

    • Afternoon students will be shuttled from their regular school to their YMCA location for parent pick up.

  • Families are not required to take advantage of this service and the absence will still be excused if you opt out.

Should you have any questions, please contact your child’s school for more information.
