BCPS is proud to recognize the exceptional contributions of Lexie Bewley-Gilley as she concludes a year of transformative work with the University of Kentucky's Jewish Heritage Fund Holocaust Education Initiative (UK-JHF HEI).
Funded by the Jewish Heritage Fund and led by the Interdisciplinary Program in Jewish Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences and UK’s Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT), the UK-JHF HEI is dedicated to empowering Kentucky teachers to meet the requirements of the 2018 Ann Klein and Fred Gross Holocaust Education Act.
Ms. Bewley-Gilley spent the year immersed in this mission, listening to experts, participating in and leading vital educational seminars, and, crucially, collaborating on the development of model curricular materials. These materials are designed to be shared and utilized by middle and high school teachers across the Commonwealth, ensuring pedagogically sound and ethical education about the Holocaust. Her dedication to recruiting and training teachers and creating a sustainable network of Holocaust educators is instrumental in fostering a more informed future for Kentucky students.
