SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY — June 1, 2026 — Bullitt County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to announce that students Dannica Barnett and Camren Bland have been selected as two of the ten exclusive 2026 Dataseam Scholars by the University of Louisville (UofL). Barnett, who plans to study Neuroscience, and Bland, who will pursue a degree in Biology, are currently being notified of these prestigious academic honors.
The recognition comes following a proactive outreach effort by BCPS leadership to the University of Louisville, securing Bullitt County’s formal addition to the Dataseam program. The sudden selection of both BCPS applicants stands as a powerful testament to the rigorous, high-caliber instruction and daily dedication provided by district educators.
Each student will receive a four-year academic scholarship valued at $2,000 annually ($8,000 total per award package). These financial rewards are fully funded by the University of Louisville, serving as an investment in local workforce talent and celebrating Kentucky K-12 education's vital infrastructure role in supporting UofL’s groundbreaking cancer drug discovery research.
Beyond the immense benefits to individual students and their families, the district's participation yields direct technological returns. In recognition of both Barnett and Bland being selected for the cohort, Bullitt County Public Schools will receive brand-new, powerful Dataseam computing workstations at no cost to the district.
These hardware assets simultaneously serve dual purposes: providing top-tier local educational tools for BCPS students during school hours, while joining Dataseam's cloud grid after hours to run complex algorithmic computations for UofL’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
Bullitt County Public Schools extends its warmest congratulations to Dannica and Camren on this incredible milestone. Their passion for discovery, paired with their outstanding academic commitment, exemplifies what it means to keep BCPS continuously Moving Forward toward a brighter, more innovative future.
