Specialized Programs Principal

SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY — Bullitt County Public Schools (BCPS) is excited to announce that Ms. Valerie Skillman has been named the new Principal of Specialized Programs. Valerie steps into this critical leadership role bringing administrative expertise and a deeply rooted commitment to student-centered education.

Valerie most recently served as the Assistant Principal at North Bullitt High School. Her extensive background in educational leadership also includes administrative roles as an Assistant Principal at Nelson County High School and Radcliff Elementary School. Prior to her work in administration, Valerie dedicated more than a decade to classroom excellence as a high school biology and chemistry teacher.

"I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to work with our students, families, community partners, and other schools to expand opportunities and ensure that every student has the needed support to reach their highest potential," said Skillman.

Valerie holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Education from Spalding University, as well as an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree. She is incredibly passionate about creating inclusive environments where both academically talented students and students needing extra resources can thrive. In her new role, she looks forward to collaborating with fellow administrators across the district to support the growth and success of all specialized programming.

The appointment of Ms. Skillman marks a vital step in BCPS’s mission to inspire and equip our students to succeed in life. Her diverse experience—spanning elementary and secondary administration as well as rigorous science classroom instruction—positions her uniquely to bridge gaps and cultivate environments where every student can excel. As she steps into this new leadership role, her vision will guide the growth of BCPS's specialized programming, ensuring tailored support, expanded opportunities, and a clear pathway to success for every learner.
