MOUNT WASHINGTON, KY — The Kentucky School Counselor Association (KSCA) has named Dana Steinmetz, school counselor at Bullitt East High School, as the recipient of the prestigious Kentucky High School Counselor of the Year award.
Nominated by her peers on the Bullitt East counseling team, Steinmetz was selected for her extraordinary leadership, unwavering advocacy for students, and significant contributions to the school counseling profession. The statewide honor recognizes counselors who demonstrate exceptional dedication and make a lasting impact on their students, schools, and broader communities.
"This recognition honors the outstanding work, dedication, leadership, and impact of individuals who make a meaningful difference for students, schools, and the school counseling profession," the Kentucky School Counselor Association shared in an official statement. "We are excited to recognize Dana and celebrate this well-deserved achievement."
Steinmetz was officially honored during the KSCA Awards Luncheon on Friday, September 11, held in conjunction with the annual KSCA State Conference.
"I feel humbled to be recognized in a profession full of people who give themselves for kids," said Steinmetz. "I've always felt lucky to have a job that lets me advocate for young people and help them find belonging and purpose."
