🏃♂️✨ Cross Country Season Kick-Off! ✨🏃♀️
Our Bronco Cross Country team raced into the season this weekend, and we couldn’t be more proud! 🌟 From the starting line to the finish, our runners showed grit, heart, and true Bronco spirit.
A huge shoutout to our new coach, Misty Story, for jumping right in with energy and passion, and to our returning coach, Teresa Clifford, for her steady leadership and dedication. 💪 We’re also grateful for the ongoing support and mentorship of NBHS Coach Dennis Mennis—thank you for pouring into our program! 🐎❤️
This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see our runners continue to grow stronger, faster, and more confident with each race. Go Broncos! 🖤🤍❤️

🌱✨ STEAM Spotlight! Authentic Learning in Action! ✨🌱
In the STEAM Lab, our Broncos explored how seeds travel in nature. One of the most fascinating ways is when seeds stick to animals and move to new places. 🐾
To bring this to life, Mrs. Crisp attached Velcro “paws” to students’ hands. They then tested which classroom materials would “stick” just like seeds in the wild. Students quickly made the connection that seeds rely on animals to travel, grow, and provide us with the plants we see all around Brooks, KY. 🌎🌿
This activity wasn’t just science—it was an example of our Graduate Profile in action:
⭐ Problem Solvers experimented with real-world materials.
⭐ Collaborators & Communicators shared what they noticed with their peers.
Through authentic, hands-on learning, our Broncos are growing the skills they’ll need to dream big and lead with purpose! 💡🚀

Today our Hay Day featured an amazing collaboration with North Bullitt High School FFA and our 2nd grade Broncos! 💚💛
As part of this year’s learning theme—“My Old Kentucky Home Provides What I Need”—our FFA partners helped students discover where their favorite foods come from. 🍎🥚🥛 Students traced everyday meals back to the farm, seeing firsthand how Kentucky agriculture provides for our families and communities. 🌽🐓🐄

Tomorrow, September 11th, is Patriot Day—a time of remembrance and honor for the events of 9/11. At Brooks, tomorrow is also “Boots Day” for Cancer Awareness Week.
We invite students to wear their boots AND, if it is meaningful to your family, to also dress in their most patriotic attire as we honor this important day together. ❤️🤍💙
During the moment of silence, we encourage students to honor 9/11 in a way that is meaningful to them and their family. Teachers will have resources available to share as they see fit.

🌾🐄 Hay Day Spotlight! 🐄🌾
A big thank you to Barry Christmas, our Kentucky Farm Bureau agent, who spent time with our 3rd graders today teaching them all about cows and the importance of taking care of farms and farmers. 🌱 Farmers don’t just work the land—they feed our communities and our world! Kentucky agriculture plays a huge role in keeping families healthy, strong, and connected. 💪🌎
Our students learned so many fun facts:
✨ The scientific term for cows is “bovine.”
✨ Dairy cows are typically thinner with visible hips and produce milk 🥛, while beef cows are stockier and bred for meat 🍔.
✨ Female bovines are called cows or heifers (before having a calf), while males are called bulls or steers.
We are so grateful for this hands-on learning that connects classroom lessons to real life. 🚜 Thank you, Barry Christmas and Kentucky Farm Bureau, for reminding us why caring for Kentucky farms and farmers is essential for us all. ❤️

September 8th–12th, 2025
Join us as we raise awareness, show our support, and spread hope for children and families affected by cancer. Each day has a fun theme, and we’re asking our students and families to participate while also giving back through special donation requests.
✨ Theme Days:

Dear Brooks Families,
Today, our students and staff participated in our state-required safety drills for fire, severe weather, bomb threat, and hard lockdown. These drills help us practice what to do in different emergency situations so that everyone knows how to respond calmly and safely if we were ever to need them.
We understand that these drills can sometimes feel a little unsettling for our young learners. Your child may mention them at home or have questions. While we always reassure students that these drills are just practice, it’s normal for them to feel curious, or even a bit nervous, afterward.
How you can help at home:
Ask open-ended questions: Instead of “Were you scared?” try,
“What did your teacher do during the drill?”
“What did you do to help keep yourself safe?”
“What was the easiest part of the drill for you?”
Reassure them: Let them know drills are like seatbelts — we practice so we know what to do, but it doesn’t mean something bad will happen.
Keep it age-appropriate: Give simple, honest answers without adding unnecessary details. For example, “We practice so our teachers know how to keep everyone safe” is usually enough for younger children.
Highlight the positives: Remind them that they did a great job listening to their teachers and following directions.
