MWES celebrated Earth Day BIG this year. First, the 3rd graders were awarded their cool spinning top prize, from Tri-Arrows, for reaching 120k cans. A group of 3rd graders helped take all the cans brought in out to be dumped in the bin. Aubrey chose to use her points to spend on Adventures with Adams. She was a great assistant in helping distribute prizes to the large number of students who participated and recycled cans today. Then Cece had purchased crushing cans with Adams. She was a can crushing machine, jumping and flattening those cans!! What an Amazing Day!♻️🌎

Happy Earth Day! 🌎♻️
Our 3rd graders wanted to send a reminder about why we need to recycle, as well as, let everyone know we only have 8 more days remaining to collect aluminum beverage cans for this year’s contest. Check out this video of their message:

The third graders’ bird feeders, which are made from recycled materials and can withstand the outside weather conditions, were hung in the trees in the back of the school🌳🦜This demonstrates the students’ learning about the importance of recycling and the impacts it can have on animals and their habitats. We appreciate these students sharing this message with others! Even though they are focused on collecting cans, they have gained a wider understanding of the value of recycling! Keep bringing in those aluminum cans♻️🥫
