Yesterday, our Knights celebrated Read Across America Week with a special Leaders as Readers event!
We were pleased to welcome members of our BCPS district leadership who spent the morning visiting classrooms, sharing a book, and talking with students about what it means to be a leader. Our students loved hearing stories and learning how reading helps leaders grow!
A big thank you to our special guests:
📖 Dr. Jesse Bacon, Superintendent
📖 Mr. Patrick Durham, Director of Elementary Education
📖 Mrs. Stefanie Kleinholter, Director of Communications
Events like this remind our students that leaders are readers, and reading opens the door to endless possibilities. We are so grateful for these leaders who took time to inspire our Knights!

Happy Read Across America Day!
Today, students, teachers, parents, and community members across the country are coming together to celebrate the power and joy of reading!
Our Knights are opening doors to imagination, understanding, and endless opportunity. Through reading, our students are strengthening their literacy skills, exploring diverse stories, and discovering books that both reflect their own experiences and introduce them to new perspectives.
We are proud to foster a lifelong love of reading in every student. Keep turning those pages, Knights! ❤️💛

All hail our King, Wyatt! 👑✨ Wyatt, a shining star in second grade, earned his royal title by showing the most improved attendance for the month of February. Now that’s some true knightly dedication and perseverance! 🛡️⚔️
To celebrate, His Majesty will enjoy a special lunch alongside his chosen royal court. 🍽️👑
Way to lead the knights, Wyatt! Keep up the amazing work!

Through her encouraging words, our Knights were reminded that kindness, courage, and confidence are the true superpowers we carry every day. 💛
Thank you, Miss Kentucky, for empowering our students to shine bright! ✨

Our Kindness Fair, proudly sponsored by Mrs. Luckett (our amazing FRC) brought learning, compassion, and community together for our Knights! Students had the opportunity to visit engaging stations and learn from wonderful community partners, including:
✨ BCHS Early Childhood Education Pathway
✨ Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health
✨ BCPS Safe Schools Department
✨ Center for Women and Families
✨ Bullitt County Health Department
✨ Nichols FRC
We are so grateful for the partnerships that help our students grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Together, we are building kind, strong Knights! 💛❤️

Mrs. Ferrell’s fourth grade class has been working through Character Strong, and this week’s focus was honesty. Students brought the lesson to life by creating and performing their very own honesty skits!
We are so proud of the character, creativity, and courage our Nichols Knights show every day! ⚔️✨

At Nichols Elementary, we are especially thankful for our amazing Family Resource Coordinator, Mrs. Luckett 💛❤️ She connects families with vital resources, supports student success, helps remove barriers to learning, and builds strong partnerships between home, school, and community.
Because of Mrs. Luckett’s dedication, our Knights are supported both inside and outside the classroom. She works tirelessly to ensure our students and families have what they need to thrive.
Join us in celebrating 35 years of FRYSCs across Kentucky and the difference they continue to make!
Thank you, Mrs. Luckett, for all you do! ⚔️

Today at Nichols Elementary, our January Celebration got a royal upgrade as we crowned our VERY FIRST Attendance Royalty! 💛❤️
All hail our Attendance Queen, Lily! 👸✨ Lily earned her crown with perfect attendance for the month of January—and on top of that, she’s made HUGE strides in improving her attendance. That’s true Knight determination! 🛡️
We are beyond proud of you, Lily! To celebrate, Her Majesty will enjoy a lunch alongside her chosen royal court. 🍽️👑
Way to lead the knights, Lily!

💛❤️ Did you know? ❤️💛
It’s National School Counseling Week! 🎉
This week, we’re shining a big spotlight on the amazing impact school counselors have in our buildings and how our students are better because of the work they do every single day. From boosting academic success to helping students navigate big emotions, build strong relationships, and plan for life beyond school , school counselors are true difference-makers! Every student deserves a counselor cheering them on!
⚔️ Nichols wouldn’t be the same without our very own Knight in shining armor—Ms. Thornsberry! ⚔️
Thank you for supporting our Nichols Knights, families, and staff every single day. Your impact is felt far and wide, and we are so grateful for all you do! 💛❤️

We are writing to acknowledge that some members of the Nichols community are currently experiencing internet outages caused by external service providers. This issue is impacting access to online learning for some of our families.
We understand this presents a challenge to NTI processes, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and flexibility as external providers work to restore service. At this time, we do not have an estimated time of resolution.
If your child is currently unable to access online learning due to an internet outage, please contact your child’s teacher directly as soon as possible. This communication ensures the teacher can make appropriate arrangements for missed instruction and assignments.
Thank you for your continued understanding.

A huge thank-you to our amazing PTA, dedicated teachers, and hardworking staff for making everything run so smoothly. We’re also grateful to our wonderful vendors. Our biggest THANK YOU goes out to our Nichols community. You truly make our school the best place in Bullitt County!

To bring their learning to life, students became authors and illustrators, creating their own informational books. Friday, they proudly shared their work with our first graders, teaching them about habitats, plant-animal partnerships, and answering thoughtful questions during a Q&A session.
We are so proud of their curiosity, creativity, and leadership!
