KSA testing is fast approaching and just around the corner! To support and encourage our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Nichols Knights, we are collecting individually packaged candy donations to create special candy grams.

These sweet treats will be delivered by our Primary students to their testing buddies as a fun way to spread encouragement and school spirit! 💛❤️

If you’d like to contribute, please send in donations by May 1st. For more details, be sure to check out the attached flyer.

What started as a classroom question...“How does a place affect the way people live?” turned into something much bigger at Nichols Elementary.

After learning about Hurricane Katrina and making a real-world connection to a family in Jamaica, students didn’t just ask questions… they took action. From collecting donations to problem-solving how to pack every last item, this class (and school!) came together to make a difference.

This is authentic learning in action. Students seeing beyond themselves, working together, and realizing they don’t have to wait to impact the world. They can lead right now.

Watch this episode of Beyond the Bell to see how one idea grew into a powerful example of service, empathy, and student voice in action.

📚🛡️ Leaders as Readers at Nichols Elementary! 🛡️📚

Yesterday, our Knights celebrated Read Across America Week with a special Leaders as Readers event!

We were pleased to welcome members of our BCPS district leadership who spent the morning visiting classrooms, sharing a book, and talking with students about what it means to be a leader. Our students loved hearing stories and learning how reading helps leaders grow!

A big thank you to our special guests:
📖 Dr. Jesse Bacon, Superintendent
📖 Mr. Patrick Durham, Director of Elementary Education
📖 Mrs. Stefanie Kleinholter, Director of Communications

Events like this remind our students that leaders are readers, and reading opens the door to endless possibilities. We are so grateful for these leaders who took time to inspire our Knights!
