CRC students in Dr. Rose's English 1 class are in the process of finishing their Greek Mythology unit. Part of their review was to create board games that would teach/review concepts they learned throughout the unit. This was a great way to work on new ways of being Effective Communicators!

BAMS students in biology have been engaging in choice board activities, enabling them to showcase their understanding of evolution. They could choose to create a board game, podcast, or interactive poster. Today in class, students shared their creations or played their games in small interview-style stations. Not only did students have the freedom to select the format that suited them best, but they will also persist in enhancing their learning through sharing with others!

Today in the CRC, students working through a Shark Tank PBL had a guest speaker - Mr. Darin Rickard, who owns and operates a local welding business. As students develop their projects, they'll reach out to more experts for feedback!

Our BAMS program teamed up once again with Bellarmine University and the Amgen Biotech Experience for a hands on lab experience. Students dove into protein purification, isolated red fluorescent proteins, and transformed bacteria. Huge shoutout to our incredible alumni Tyler, whose unwavering support made this collaboration possible.

Students in Ms. Todd's freshman Survey of Social Studies class played the Electoral College Game today. This game helps students understand the difference between popular votes and electoral votes. Many students were surprised when we do not vote directly for the president, a process that is instead done by Electors.

Here's the final project in our BAMS/GE series: Hydraulic Sinks!
You're probably asking yourself - aren't all sinks hydraulic? Well, this system uses hydraulics to lower and raise the entire sink! This project is a great example of the Graduate Profile Competency of Mastery Learner. Students in this group have had to learn about not only engineering and modeling in OnShape, but they also have to take plumbing and hydraulic systems into account. Putting all of this information together to create one cohesive product is not easy, but they are doing a great job!

Here's another BAMS/GE project for you: The Reminder Bracelet!
This project exemplifies the Graduate Profile Competency of Innovative Problem Solver. Students identified a problem - how much energy can be wasted by simple things such as leaving the refrigerator door cracked. Their solution is a bracelet with vibrating notifications, which could be used and adapted in many ways!
