Bullitt County Public Schools is excited to announce a significant step forward in its commitment to providing authentic learning experiences for all students. Over fifty Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers from across the district recently participated in a three-day workshop focused on Project Based Learning (PBL), facilitated by experts from PBLWorks.
During the workshop, educators immersed themselves in the principles of project based learning and learned how to plan "Gold Standard" projects tailored to their students' needs. The teachers engaged in peer critique protocols such as Gallery Walks and Tuning Protocol to ensure their projects are appropriately challenging, aligned with content standards, and relevant to student interests.
"We are thrilled to see teachers embracing this type of authentic learning as one way to make learning relevant and engaging for our students, " said BCPS Assistant Superintendent Dr. Adrienne Usher. "This approach truly empowers teachers and students to co-create meaningful learning experiences."
The authentic learning projects developed during the PBL workshop will be introduced to students in the coming weeks and months, providing them with hands-on, real-world learning opportunities. Moving forward, we will also be sharing more about these projects (among others) and their impact on student learning.
