BCPS is proud to help connect families with critical summer nutrition resources.
Thanks to a grant supporting statewide outreach, BCPS has joined efforts to inform families about Kentucky’s Summer EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) Program: an initiative that provides $120 per child in grocery benefits to help cover the cost of meals while school is out.
The Summer EBT program is designed to ensure no child goes hungry when school cafeterias close for summer break. It complements the SUN Meals program by helping families buy groceries their children need to stay healthy and nourished during the summer months. Last year alone, 375,000 children across Kentucky benefitted from this program.
Who Qualifies?
Children who already receive SNAP, KTAP, income-based Medicaid, or Kinship Care will be automatically enrolled.
Families not receiving these benefits but who could use extra support are encouraged to apply.

Why It Matters
Here in BCPS, Students Matter Most. Supporting initiatives like Summer EBT reflects our Core Values of Service Before Self, Future Focused thinking, and a commitment to helping every student succeed in life.
“Summer EBT helps bridge the nutrition gap when school isn’t in session,” said Megan Hatter, BCPS' FRYSC Coordinator and Grant Writer. “We’re proud to play a role in spreading the word and making sure our families have the resources they need.”
