Congrats, BLMS!

Bullitt Lick Middle School has once again been recognized as a Jostens Renaissance Platinum School of Distinction for the 2024–25 school year. This honor places BLMS among an elite group of schools nationwide that are redefining school culture by celebrating student and staff achievements in meaningful and sustainable ways.

Principal Amanda Nokes shared the intentional effort behind this recognition: “For two years Bullitt Lick has sent students to Jostens Renaissance, prioritizing their involvement as a way to build positive behavior interventions and supports that will become a foundational legacy. We have reduced behavior events by 51% and 17% respectively over just two years by focusing on the positive. We have been recognized for two years as a Platinum School of Distinction for our documentation of frequent, repeatable, buildable celebrations that turned our culture toward excitement around being at school and an opportunity where every student can be celebrated.”

In the 2024–25 school year, 100% of BLMS students were recognized at some point, a milestone that underscores the school’s commitment to belonging and celebration. This intentional approach ensures every student experiences moments of recognition and encouragement, aligning with BCPS’ Graduate Profile competencies such as Community Contributor and Productive Collaborator.

The Platinum School of Distinction award celebrates schools that sustain systems of recognition through frequent, repeatable, and buildable celebrations. For BLMS, this means fostering a culture where students are motivated not only by academic success but also by their contributions to the school community and positive choices throughout the school day.

“Our goal is to change the narrative around Bullitt Lick and the middle school experience for all students,” Nokes said.

This achievement also reflects BCPS Core Values of Students Matter Most and Shared Accountability, as the BLMS team continues to focus on student growth, relationships, and innovative practices that create lasting impact.

We are proud to celebrate Bullitt Lick Middle School for leading with innovation and heart. Their example reminds us that when students feel seen, supported, and celebrated, they are inspired and equipped to succeed in life.
