I am Ms. Maggie Bledsoe and I have taken over the position of Attendance Clerk. I hope that y'all can bare with me as we make this transition!
We always appreciate a message or phone call if your student is to miss school. Please know that if your student is absent, we require a PHYSICAL note for it to be properly documented and/or excused. You have up to 5 days to send in a physical note! (Exceptions are made at the Principal's discretion.)
Again, emails, Dojo messages, and phone calls are incredibly helpful, but if your student is to be excused, it is most important that we receive a doctor or parent note for documentation.
I look forward to working with each and everyone one of you!

Don't forget the PTA Fundraiser Classics Car Show is THIS Saturday, October 15th from 12 noon to 4 pm. The costume contest will be held at 1 pm. Trunk or Treat begins at 2 pm. The cars will be judged at 3 pm, with winners being announced at 3:45 pm. Come out and support Nichols Elementary! Go Knights!

Mrs. Tomes' class earned the High Attendance Trophy and the Positive Dojo Points MOJO banner for the month of September.

Nichols Elementary Library Pumpkin Contest
Dear Parents, Students, and Teachers,
The library is getting into the fall spirit by having a pumpkin decorating contest. Each entry will be $1. Nichols students and staff are invited to decorate a pumpkin in the image of their favorite book character. It’s easy and fun for the entire family! Students and staff may bring in a decorated pumpkin for the contest from October 17th to October 27th. All entries must be received by 9:10 am on October 27th. Judging will take place in the afternoon on the 27th. Winners will be announced on broadcast Friday morning, October 28th.
Contest Rules:
1. Fill out the entry form and send it in to Mrs. McBroom with $1.
2. ABSOLUTELY NO CARVED PUMPKINS! Carved pumpkins rot, attract bugs, and smell. Most importantly, we don’t want a child handling a knife or carving tools. Carved pumpkins will not be entered into the contest and will be sent home. Pumpkins may be painted, hot glued, colored, etc. You MAY use a foam pumpkin instead of a real pumpkin.
3. Pumpkins should represent a favorite book character. On the entry form, you must write the title, character, and author of the book. Pumpkins based on literature (not cartoon and movie characters made into books) will receive more points.
4. This is a home project and pumpkins should be done mostly by students. K thru 2nd grade students may work with parents to complete a pumpkin as a unit. 3rd-5th grade students should do most of the work themselves, with only some assistance from parents. Judges tend to give more points to projects where student work is evident.
5. Pumpkins may be transported on the bus, but they must fit in the student’s lap and be inside a bag.
6. Do not write your name on the pumpkin. When you bring your pumpkin, $1, and entry form to Mrs. McBroom, she will record the information so that each pumpkin can be properly identified.
7. Pumpkins will be judged in the following categories:
● K thru 2nd Grade “PRIMARY STUDENT” Pumpkins
● 3rd thru 5th Grade “STUDENT” Pumpkins
● Faculty & Staff Pumpkins
8. Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges.
9. Prizes: One winner in each category will be chosen. Each winner will receive a prize.
10. Pumpkins need to be taken home by Friday, November 4th. Any pumpkin remaining after that date will be discarded.
Entry forms are still available if your child has misplaced their copy.
