This family beautifully captured what so many feel: Mrs. Myers and Mrs. Hibbs aren’t just teachers, they’re safe places, steady cheerleaders, and guiding lights. “Because of you, our child walked into school with nervous little steps and walked out with confidence, joy, and a true love for learning.”

We are so thankful for the heart, care, and dedication you both bring to Old Mill. You’ve made a lasting impact—and it shows in every smile, every hug, and every brave little learner walking through our doors.

We are excited to officially reintroduce Mrs. Jessie Thompson as Old Mill Elementary’s new Assistant Principal! Mrs. Thompson joined our leadership team this spring, and many of you already know her from her time here as a dedicated Special Education teacher. She brings a deep love for our students, a passion for supporting staff, and a commitment to helping Old Mill continue to shine. We’re thrilled for her to step into this new role and can’t wait for you to see the amazing impact she will make!

We didn’t get many pictures because there was so much excitement at Open House! It was such a joy seeing our students, families, and staff together again. 💛 We’re counting down the days until the halls are full and the learning begins!

Dear Families,

A big thank you to everyone who joined us last night at the open house—it was such a joy to connect with you and meet so many smiling faces! We’re excited for the year ahead—and even more excited to see your children back at school!

Here are a few important reminders:

First Day of School: Tuesday, our doors open promptly at 8:30 AM, and we'll be ready to greet your students with open arms!

Car Riders & Walkers: Please ensure your child has their car rider tag if applicable. If your child walks, remind them to follow safety routines. We appreciate your patience and understanding with transportation during this first week—it’s going to be a busy time as we settle in.

Lunchroom Visitors: We’re looking forward to hosting visitor lunches, but that will begin after Labor Day. This allows us a little time to nail down our lunchroom procedures and maintain a smooth routine.

“Mrs. Bleemel has been such a blessing to our family this year!” One parent shared how thankful they are for the way she makes learning fun and engaging while still challenging students to reach their highest potential. Her positivity, passion, and care have made a lasting impact, and it’s clear she pours her heart into helping her students grow, both academically and personally.

Today at Old Mill, we gathered for EdCamp, led by our amazing district and teacher leaders! Learning from one another is one of the best ways we grow, collaborate, and build each other up. We’re getting closer to an incredible year ahead!

This morning we had the joy of welcoming our newest teachers to Bullitt County at New Teacher Orientation! We’re so excited to have them join the Old Mill family and can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make this year.

Even during summer break, our OMES staff has been busy growing and learning! From KCM Math and Kagan Engagement training, to Project Lead the Way and more — our teachers are investing in new strategies to make this year the best yet! 💡💪 A special shout-out to Mrs. Melcher, who represented us all the way in California at the national ASCA Conference! We’re so proud of our team’s commitment to kids!

If you’ve ever met Mr. Ezell, you know his energy is contagious and his heart for kids runs deep. One parent shared, “His enthusiasm is unmatched!” Whether he’s teaching, encouraging, or putting together a slideshow filled with photos, videos, and sweet songs to celebrate his class, Mr. Ezell goes above and beyond to make every student feel seen and valued.

“He seems to truly love his job, as well as his students.” 💛

We’re so grateful to have Mr. Ezell as part of our Old Mill family. He’s the kind of teacher who leaves a lasting impact—and we’re all better because of him.

Graduate Profile Shout-Out: Tucker Lile
Tucker is already demonstrating what it means to be a self-directed navigator! From helping with welding to learning the ropes of custom interior work, Tucker is gaining real-world experience and setting big goals for his future. We’re proud of the ownership and drive he’s showing—keep chasing those dreams, Tucker! 🏁
