This week's student spotlight goes out to Julia Altez. "Julia jumped right in to help during reindeer games without hesitating when I lost my voice! She took over and made it so much fun for kindergarten and 1st grade students. She showed patience, compassion, and kindness to all of the classes that came into the gym for their game. She even hopped in to be a part of the game with them. Thank you so much, Julia, for stepping in to help me while making it fun for all the other students at the same time! " -Mrs. Boston

January Focus: Self-Directed Navigator
This month, we are highlighting the Self-Directed Navigator graduate profile competency. While we love recognizing students who embody our grad profile competencies at school, we want to take it a step further by showcasing how they use these skills at home!
As you catch your child being a role model for the graduate profile at home, we encourage you to:
Snap a picture of them demonstrating the grad profile competency.
Share their story with us using the provided Google Form.
We’re excited to see how our students are applying what they’ve learned in school to their home life. Let’s celebrate their achievements together!

This week's teacher spotlight goes out to Mrs. Forman. She’s an incredible part of our MTSS team, constantly demonstrating what it means to be a Productive Collaborator—one of our Bullitt County graduate profile competencies. Mrs. Forman also leads our teacher mentorship program, where her passion for helping and supporting others truly shines. She works seamlessly with her colleagues, always putting students and teachers first. Her love and dedication to our school community make such a positive impact every day. We’re so lucky to have her on our team!

📚 Mrs. Joiner's Next Book Recommendation is Here! This month, I’m excited to recommend The Yes Brain by Daniel Siegel! 🌟 This insightful read is packed with strategies to help kids build resilience, confidence, and a growth mindset. This week, we had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible students who exemplify exceptional teamwork skills in the classroom! 🎉 Their collaboration and support for one another make our school community stronger. We are so proud of each and every one of you! 💖 #KoalasCREATE

This week's student spotlights go out to Liam and Lincoln. "Our class was making Christmas cards for a fellow Koala who is in the hospital. These boys felt that they wanted to do a little more and decided they wanted to give away their desk pets to this student, as well. Liam and Lincoln worked hard to earn their desk pets this year, so they are prized possessions. These boys wanted to give a gift from their hearts." -Mrs. Watson

🎄 On the 8th day of Christmas, Old Mill Elementary was blessed with something SWEET! 🍦
A huge THANK YOU to our incredible business partner, Tate and Sons, and Mr. Smith (Mrs. Smith’s husband!) for donating today’s ice cream treat! Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us. We’re so grateful for your support!

A heartfelt thank-you to Southeast Christian Church for their generosity in providing a delicious Chicken Salad Chick lunch for our entire staff! Your thoughtfulness and support truly brighten our days and remind us how valued we are. We are so grateful for your partnership and the encouragement you bring to our school community! ❤️

Our 1st graders are getting into the holiday spirit with an exciting PBL project! 🎶✨
Their Driving Question: How can we, as composers, use sensory and feeling words to create a song that describes the sights and sounds of Christmas?
Through this project, they are exploring creativity, language, and music to bring the magic of the season to life. We can’t wait to see (and hear!) what they compose! Stay tuned for their festive masterpieces! 🎄🎵

Holiday Dress-Up starts on Monday!
