This week, our 4th graders took on division by using base ten blocks to divide three-digit dividends with partial quotients! Hands-on learning helped students visualize the division process, deepen their understanding, and build confidence in their math skills.
📸 Check out these mathematicians in action!

Today, Mrs. O’Bryan’s 3rd graders were fully engaged as they dove into their texts with focus and determination! 🔍 Using the CER Model (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning), they carefully analyzed the material and crafted thoughtful responses that highlighted their growing critical thinking skills. 📝
The learning didn’t stop there—students collaborated with their peers, sharing ideas and building on each other’s insights. 🤝 It was inspiring to watch them support one another and learn together!

This week's teacher spotlight goes out to Mrs. Hodges. "I am so grateful for Mrs. Hodges! She co-teaches with me daily, and is always there to support me and our students. She goes above and beyond to make lessons fun and engaging for her students everyday. Her students adore her, and always wait by the door to watch for her to come in each morning. We are so lucky to have you, Mrs. Hodges!" -Mrs. Dixon

Today, our kindergarteners took the stage for their ABC Fashion Show to celebrate an incredible milestone—mastering uppercase and lowercase letters in Fundations!
From learning letter sounds to perfecting their formations, our students have worked hard to conquer two essential standards. What better way to celebrate their success than with a little creativity, confidence, and style?

🎯🏆 Congratulations to our Old Mill Archery Team! 🏆🎯

It is Board Member Appreciation Month and we want to take a moment to recognize and thank Dr. Mooney, our dedicated division representative. He does an incredible job advocating for the needs of our students and ensuring their success. We truly appreciate his commitment and support for Old Mill Elementary and the entire district. Thank you, Dr. Mooney, for all you do!

Good luck to our archery team as they compete in their first tournament today at St. James in Elizabethtown!

Exciting news from Old Mill Elementary! On our very first NTI day, our 4th graders responded to a News Quiz prompt, and Aria Lurie’s response was selected to be featured! How cool is that? We’re so proud of Aria and all our students for their engagement and effort.

This week's staff spotlight goes out to Mrs. Tiffany. "Tiffany is an amazing asset to our school. We have loved getting to know her this year and appreciate her kind and thorough care of our Kinder Koalas. Tiffany is prompt, extremely compassionate, and proactive in assistance with skills. She has shown empathy with behavior management, initiative with groups, and always has a smile to share. I appreciate her TLC so much! We are so blessed to have her on our team this year." -Mrs. Yocum

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by embracing his message of kindness, equality, and unity in all we do.

Our Student Council had their first meeting of the year with Mrs. Joiner on Friday. They dove into our school’s mission, explored how it’s evident in their daily learning experiences, and brainstormed meaningful goals for the rest of the year.
We’re so proud of these young leaders and can’t wait to see their ideas come to life!

Today, our favorite Koala mascot joined a group of students for lunch, spreading smiles and school spirit! 🐨 It was a memorable moment filled with laughter, high-fives, and lots of excitement!

This week's student spotlight goes out to Julia Altez. "Julia jumped right in to help during reindeer games without hesitating when I lost my voice! She took over and made it so much fun for kindergarten and 1st grade students. She showed patience, compassion, and kindness to all of the classes that came into the gym for their game. She even hopped in to be a part of the game with them. Thank you so much, Julia, for stepping in to help me while making it fun for all the other students at the same time! " -Mrs. Boston
