We’re starting Staff Appreciation Week by shining the spotlight on two of the best—Mrs. Wortham and Ms. Maddie! Our preschool team brings joy, patience, and a whole lot of love to our youngest learners each and every day. Thank you for laying the foundation with such care and heart!

It’s time for the ultimate showdown—Cats vs. Cards for a great cause!
Starting TODAY, we’re joining Bullitt County Public Schools in raising money for Special Olympics Kentucky through a little friendly competition.
Old Mill families and staff, choose your team and donate to help us meet (or beat!) our $800 goal!

We are incredibly grateful to the Bullitt East FFA for bringing their expertise, energy, and passion to our Ag Day! Their members shared their knowledge on everything from cows to chickens to horses and so much more. Our students loved learning from them and left with a deeper appreciation for agriculture and all it involves. Thank you, Bullitt East FFA, for making Ag Day such a memorable and inspiring experience!

Hats off to our amazing kindergarten crew—Mrs. Yocum, Mrs. Myers, Ms. Bader, Ms. Wells, Ms. Winnia, Ms. Denise and Ms. Hibbs! You create a world where learning is magical, routines are comforting, and every child feels seen and loved. We’re so lucky to have each of you shaping the start of our students’ journeys!

We’re giving a heartfelt shout-out to the incredible women who support the whole child at Old Mill—Mrs. Kelsey, our school therapist; Mrs. Melcher, our counselor; and Mrs. Lawson, our Family Resource Coordinator. Whether they’re helping students navigate big feelings, supporting families through challenges, or creating safe spaces to grow and heal, these three bring unmatched care and compassion to our school community. Thank you for being the heart of our student support system!

Join us for Hat Day this Thursday to support our Special Olympics fundraiser! Bring $1 and let your teacher know if you're Team Cards or Team Cats—we’ll make sure your donation goes in the right bucket!

Let’s gear up to celebrate a fun-filled Field Day together!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s a good reminder that our kids need extra moments this month to check in—ask how they’re feeling, make space for quiet time, and show them it’s okay to talk about emotions.
The little things we do every day can help our children grow up feeling safe, heard, and supported. We appreciate your continued partnership Old Mill families!

Our 4th graders wrapped up their novel study of The Wild Robot in the most creative way—by becoming engineers! This week, they put their imaginations and problem-solving skills to work, designing and building their very own robots. From concept to creation, these projects brought literature to life through hands-on learning.

Ms. Ellis brings 14 years of classroom experience and a heart full of passion for helping students connect with the world around them. Mrs. Joiner has been kicking back a bit these past two weeks thanks to some amazing leadership on campus!
Meet our Principals of the Day—Hadley Boone and Ardyn Grady! These two student leaders took charge, made big decisions, and helped keep things running smoothly at Old Mill!

Happy National Principal Day to Mrs. Joiner!
Your leadership sets the tone for everything we do at OMES. You are always going above and beyond—not just in the big decisions, but in the countless small ways you show up for students, staff, and families every day. Your vision, compassion, and dedication make our school a place where everyone feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow. We are so lucky to have you at the helm!

Shout-out to Too A Tee for showing their appreciation to our staff with a sweet surprise—delicious cookies for all! We’re grateful for their continued partnership and support of all things school spirit wear. Thank you for helping us celebrate our team in such a thoughtful way!

This week's student spotlight goes outs to Avery Millard. "Avery noticed that her math partner had missed a few days of instruction and was confused with the concept of subtracting mixed numbers. Avery stepped right in without being asked, and talked her math partner through the process, step by step! This is a tricky concept for many of our fourth graders, and Avery explained it correctly and efficiently! Great job being a productive collaborator, AND a mastery learner, Avery! I am so proud of you!" -Mrs. Dixon

Shout out to Ms. Kromenacker and Mr. Ezell for completing the Thrive program—Bullitt County’s support program for first-year teachers! These two have gone above and beyond all expectations this year, and we couldn’t be prouder. Old Mill is truly lucky to have their energy, dedication, and heart pouring into our students each day!
