Dear 5th Grade Families,
The application process for next year’s Discovery School is now open until March 23, 2026! We are looking for students who love an academic challenge and have a passion for STEM and authentic learning to apply! To learn more information about Discovery School, please come to the Open House on March 12th at Zoneton Middle School from 5:30-6:45 PM.
If you are interested in applying for Discovery School, please go to this link:

Once you have applied, you will need to send out a link to 2 teachers to complete teacher recommendation forms. Here is the Teacher Recommendation link: https://bit.ly/4kX8Tbz
The committee needs you to send that link to your current classroom teacher and then choose another teacher who knows you well. It can be a GT Teacher, 4th grade teacher, Special Area Teacher, counselor, etc… We need the 2 teachers to complete their recommendations by March 23rd. This is the date when the application window closes.

💻BCPS Online Registration (OLR) for the 2026-2027 School Year
We are pleased to announce that Online Registration (OLR) for the 2026-2027 school year will officially open on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Please note a significant update to this year’s OLR process: we will be requiring all registering existing families to upload a current Photo ID/Driver's License of Parent/Guardian with their current address and 2 proofs of residency.
This is a necessary step to ensure the accuracy of our enrollment records and to ensure we have updated addresses for all our families.
We encourage you to begin preparing your necessary residency documentation ahead of the registration opening date, which will be March 9th.
Below you will find a list of acceptable documents:
🪪 Current Photo ID/Driver’s License
📋2 - Proofs of Residency:
✔️Authentic home builder contract with approved district transfer, lease, closing statement, or other home dwelling document.
✔️Utility bill: Current electricity, gas or water bill with current address
✔️Current employee check stub with current address
✔️Current vehicle registration that matches the driver’s license submitted
✔️Government agency correspondence with current address
✔️Voter registration card
