Families, SES is excited to be partnering with Paloma in the second half of the school year! Paloma is a free program for all Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade families that provides individualized daily literacy lessons for students. There’s no app, no sign ups, and no requirements. Your student being an SES student is all you need! Beginning the week of January 19th you will receive a daily text message with a link to a 10-15 minute lesson you can complete with your student at home each day.

There’s no requirement, this isn’t for a grade, it isn’t homework, it’s just another way that we can all help your student be their best self each day. If you have a student who is in Kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade please view the slide show linked below and watch for a text from the number “57536” the week of January 19th!! We’re very excited to partner with Paloma and hope it can be a big help to our students and families at home!

Families, please remember that Monday, January 5th is a Bullitt Day and students do not have school. However, SES will be having scheduled parent-teacher conferences on that day. Prior to break our teachers worked to schedule conferences and have them scheduled throughout the day on the 5th. If you've scheduled a conference please be on time so that teachers can stay on schedule. Thank you!

Families, at this point it seems the majority of the issues with Spectrum have been resolved for the time being. If you're still having issues with connecting please reach out to your student's teacher or call the school and we can help determine the cause of the issue. Thanks for your flexibility this morning, we appreciate it!

Families, we're receiving reports that Spectrum is having an outage. If your student's unable to connect to their morning meeting or the internet at the moment hang tight. Though we acknowledge if you don't have internet it might be difficult to get this message. We're trying to get some information and will work on some next steps. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Families, please check Rooms for more information for today's NTI schedule for your student. Morning meetings will begin at 9:10 and your student's teacher can help with questions throughout the day. If your student was absent yesterday and you need to pick up their Chromebook we have staff in the building to assist. Please just let your student's teacher know so that we can retrieve it ahead of time. Stay safe and warm today!

Families, as we've done in previous years we will begin sending Chromebooks home with students on a daily basis today, December 1st, 2025. This is to be prepared in the event that students need them for possible NTI days in the future. I know that there is potential inclement weather for tomorrow, so I want to be clear that at this time no announcement about tomorrow has been decided and any announcement would be made at the district level. At SES our plan has always been to begin sending Chromebooks home following Thanksgiving break to get our students and staff in the habit of bringing their Chromebooks home and returning them to school each day. So regardless of the forecast, we would be doing so beginning today.

Your student will have a Chromebook, a charger, and either a clamshell case that stays on the Chromebook or fabric case that stores the Chromebook. We need each of those items to be brought back to school each day fully charged if they are used at home. We will continue to send Chromebooks home through the winter months and will notify families if/when we will begin have them remain at school. However, for the foreseeable future you can plan on your student coming home with the above items, including over breaks and weekends. I appreciate your help with this and please reach out to your child's teacher if you need clarification or to me if you have any questions. Thank you and have a great day!

Our second graders wrote fantastic informational pieces about animals and then put their Effective Communicator skills into action by presenting their work to kindergarteners, classmates, and staff throughout the building.

Our kindergarten and first graders had a wonderful parade today! They have been learning about different countries and how they celebrate holidays. They learned about The Macy's Day Parade and made their own balloons! Everyone enjoyed their creativity!
