Mrs. Myers’ kindergarten classroom was full of exciting learning today during reading!
Our youngest Koalas were busy building their vocabulary, exploring new words, and identifying the problem and resolution in a story! 📖

What started as a special project with our very own Mrs. Pam has grown into something even BIGGER this year! 💕
Mrs. Pam’s heart project has officially expanded to include ALL BCPS elementary students!
Our goal is to spread a little love and kindness by giving every elementary student in Bullitt County a handmade crocheted heart. But to make that happen, we need YOUR help!
🧶 Know how to crochet? Make one heart or as many as you can!
💕 Have extra yarn? We would love donations of yarn in any color!
❤️ Want to help in another way? We are also collecting gallon-size baggies!
All hearts and donations can be dropped off at Old Mill Elementary or Shepherdsville Elementary by January 11th.
Want to pick up your tickets ahead of time? PTO will be on the front porch starting at 3:00 PM tomorrow! Families are welcome to walk up to collect pre-sale orders placed before Thursday’s 3:00 PM deadline or purchase tickets right at the booth.

Our Energy Team got to enjoy a special garden-to-table experience today! Students had the opportunity to taste fresh green peppers grown right in our school garden! It was so fun watching them try something they helped grow. We’re learning that hard work, patience, and a little gardening can lead to some pretty tasty rewards!

She recently came and spoke with our Kindergarteners about shapes in Art, and she did an amazing job showing students that shapes aren’t just something we learn in isolation they are all around us and are used in so many ways in everyday life.
She shared examples of her own artwork with the students and then challenged them to become shape detectives, searching for and identifying different shapes within the artwork she created.
Thank you, for sharing your talents, making meaningful connections across learning, and helping our students see how what they learn can be used in the real world!

🚨 IMPORTANT ALADDIN AUDITION UPDATE! 🚨
Attention 3rd–5th grade families who completed an interest form for our Aladdin musical! 🎭✨
We have made a change to our audition schedule! Auditions will now take place DURING THE SCHOOL DAY THIS WEEK!
Please disregard the audition time sheet that was previously sent home. Students will no longer need to stay after school for their assigned audition time.
Callbacks will still take place next week, if needed.
Thank you for your flexibility as we make this adjustment! We can’t wait to see our talented Koalas shine! 💙💛
🌟 Student Spotlight: Conner🌟
Conner was a student in my classroom last year, and although he has now moved up to another grade, he continues to make an impact here at Old Mill!
One day, Conner noticed that my electric pencil sharpener was no longer working. Instead of simply accepting that it was broken, Conner decided he was going to try to fix it. When he realized he didn’t have the tools he needed at school, this determined problem solver didn’t give up. He went home that night, gathered the proper tools, and returned to school the very next day ready to get to work.
After a little trial and error, some creative thinking, and lots of innovative problem solving, Conner proudly showed up at my classroom door with a perfectly functioning pencil sharpener! 🔧✏️
Conner demonstrated the very heart of what it means to be an Innovative Problem Solver and a Community Contributor. He saw a problem, took ownership, found a solution, and used his talents to make our classroom a better place.
We are so blessed to have Conner as a leader in our Old Mill community, and my students and I are especially grateful to him for one very important thing…

Our kindergarteners had a special assignment last week! 🔺🟦⭕️
Our preschool friends are beginning to learn about shapes, so they called in some experts… our kindergarteners! 💛 Students were challenged to create posters to teach preschoolers about different shapes, what they look like, where we can find them in the real world, and how we can use them in art.
We love seeing learning go beyond the classroom with a real purpose and a real audience! Our kindergarten Koalas were proud to be the experts and put their skills as Effective Communicators and Community Contributors to work! 🐨
We were SO impressed by all of the amazing entries our students submitted for this year’s yearbook cover! Our students brought so much creativity and talent to their designs!
Students entered, our staff voted, and today we revealed the winning cover!
