A huge thank you to Pediatrics of Bullitt County for sponsoring another incredible year of our Wellness Club! Their continued support helps us promote healthy habits, active lifestyles, and overall wellness for our students. We’re so grateful for partners who invest in the whole child and help make opportunities like this possible!

It’s your turn, 4th & 5th grade!
This Wednesday, bring in $1 and wear your PJs to school! It’s also the FINAL DAY for our Cats vs. Cards fundraiser—let’s finish strong for a great cause! All proceeds go to Special Olympics. Let’s go, Old Mill!

A beautiful cross-school collaboration came to life Friday at Old Mill!
Students from the Family & Consumer Science course at Bullitt East partnered with Mrs. Yocum’s kindergarten class for a special social-emotional learning project. After reading The Color Monster together and discussing emotions, our kinders designed their own color monsters. The high school students will now hand-sew each one and bring them back to our students!
This project was a powerful example of our students being community contributors—using their time, talents, and hearts to make a difference across schools. We are so grateful for this partnership!

Today was our Girls on the Run 5K, and our girls crushed it! We are so proud of their hard work and determination throughout the season.
Huge shoutout to our incredible coaches, Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Bleemel, for leading and inspiring these girls every step of the way!

Have a great weekend, everyone! See you Monday!

Mrs. Grady’s class soared into science today!
Students explored how airplanes take flight, then became innovative problem solvers by designing, building, and testing their own wooden planes!

We’re so grateful for the amazing volunteers who help make everything happen at Old Mill! 💛
As a small token of our appreciation, we’d love for you to pop in, grab a treat, and pull a raffle ticket for a fun prize!
You’ve made a difference—and now it’s our turn to celebrate you! 🎉

This week's student spotlight goes out to Blake O'Brien. "We were packing up for the day to go out to wellness before the bell rang to go home. The students were lining up and I checked to see if we had everyone, I turned around and saw that another student dropped all of her papers from her mailbox and he was helping her pick them all up. He told her don’t worry we will get it done. He was so sweet and so kind. He is always celebrating others and cheering them on." -Mrs. Polson

4th Grade is in the Lead! 🏆
Our 4th graders are showing up strong! Remember—the first grade level to hit 100% will score a brand new wellness basket full of goodies! Keep the momentum going! If you are NOT registered, please do so on the link below:

This week's teacher spotlight goes out to Mrs. Siegel. One of our amazing 5th grade teachers! In her first year at Old Mill, she’s shown a beautiful balance of calm, care, and high expectations. Her students know she believes in them—and it shows in the way they rise to meet the bar she sets. We’re so lucky to have her on our team!

This Thursday is PJ Day for K–3!
Students in kindergarten through 3rd grade can bring in $1 to wear their pajamas to school as part of our Cats vs. Cards fundraiser. All proceeds go toward supporting the Special Olympics!
4th and 5th graders—don’t worry, your turn is coming (after state testing wraps up).
Let’s see which team will come out on top! 🏆💙❤️

Our third graders have been getting their hands dirty—in the best way!
From researching how to attract pollinators to writing persuasive letters for donations, they’ve been the heart behind bringing our school garden to life. They’ve spread dirt, turned compost, planted with care… and last week, they released butterflies and ladybugs into their new home!

Thank you for taking an active role in supporting our school!

Parents of incoming 6th graders are invited to join the MWMS Counselor, Ms. Fenwick, and Youth Services Center Coordinator, Ms. Lurie, for coffee on June 4 from 9:00-10:00 in the MWMS Cafeteria. During this time, they hope to ease your mind about the transition to middle school and answer some of your questions. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Lurie at courtney.lurie@bullitt.kyschools.us!

Our Koalas were shining bright at this weekend’s Spring Festival! From riding in the parade and working booths to running in the 5K and representing in the pageant, OMES was everywhere you looked. We love seeing our school community come together to celebrate and support one another!

Goal Update: The CATS are currently in the lead! Will they stay on top, or will the CARDS make a comeback? The race isn’t over yet!

📣 Help us welcome Mrs. Rachel Troutman to the Old Mill family!
She’s joining our 3rd-grade team and brings with her a passion for teaching, a love for reading, and a heart for kids. We’re so excited for the energy and experience she’ll bring to our school! 💙🐨
Welcome to the Koala community, Mrs. Troutman—we’re so glad you’re here!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, guardians, and mother figures in our Old Mill family!
Today we celebrate YOU—the ones who cheer the loudest, love the hardest, and support our students every step of the way. Your kindness, strength, and endless care make a difference in the lives of our students every single day.
Wishing you a day full of love, laughter, and a little time to yourself—you deserve it!

Girls on the Run has been hard at work this season, learning how to use our “I Can” power to overcome obstacles and gearing up for our 5k. These girls have shown tremendous resilience and teamwork throughout our practices, and we are so proud of their hard work!

What a way to wrap up an incredible week!
This morning, our staff enjoyed a build-your-own yogurt bar courtesy of our leadership team. Lunch was provided by Galan’s and the KOA, and we closed the day with raffle prizes packed with generous donations from our local business partners.
To our teachers and staff—you are so deeply appreciated. Thank you for pouring your hearts into our school every day!
