Today we celebrate our phenomenal student support team—Ms. Kelty, Ms. Berry, Ms. Mindy, Ms. Stacey, Ms. Brittany, and Ms. Amanda! Whether it’s OT, PT, speech, nursing, or hearing support, you each play a vital role in ensuring every student thrives. Your care and expertise make all the difference, and we are so thankful for you!

To our fifth grade team—Mrs. Siegel, Mrs. Grady, Mrs. Calhoun, and Ms. Miller—thank you for leading our students through their final year at Old Mill with wisdom, energy, and heart. You prepare them not only for middle school, but for life. We appreciate you so much!

Today we celebrate the heartbeat of our school—our office staff! Mrs. Renee, Mrs. Becky, Mrs. Pam, Mrs. Katie, Mrs. Shawn—thank you for answering every call, soothing every worry, and juggling all the details with grace. You make Old Mill feel like home.

Let’s hear it for fourth grade! Mrs. Bleemel, Mrs. Dixon, and Mrs. Watson—your passion for learning and deep care for students make a lasting impression. You help them dream big, dig deep, and push forward. Thank you for all you do!

Last but certainly not least—a special thank you to Mrs. Guetig and Mrs. Mia Thomas. As our ARC chair and school psychologist, you bring both expertise and empathy to your roles. You advocate for students, support staff, and always keep the focus on what’s best for kids. We are so lucky to have you both!

Today’s Staff Appreciation festivities were made extra special thanks to some longtime friends of Old Mill!
We kicked off the morning with breakfast from Sanders Ridge and a gift card raffle generously donated by Kings Church Baptist Church. Lunch was provided by our amazing partners at Pediatrics of Bullitt County, featuring Zaxby’s, and staff received sweet and salty pretzel door hangers as a fun surprise! Mt. Washington Smoothies also kept us energized with refreshing teas.
We are so thankful for these incredible partners who have consistently shown up for our staff year after year. Your continued support means the world to us!

Mrs. Joiner is doing everything she can to keep the CATS on top—including guarding the bucket like her job depends on it! She’s not about to trade her blue and white for red and black. We’ve got TWO more weeks until the final tally—will her bucket-sitting strategy pay off, or will she be rocking red for a whole week? Stay tuned, Koalas!

Our third grade team—Mrs. O’Bryan, Mrs. Gentry, Ms. Krom, and Ms. Whittaker—makes a big impact with every lesson, laugh, and lightbulb moment. You help students stretch and grow with confidence. We are so grateful for the work you do and the love you give!

To our custodial team—thank you for being the steady hands that keep our building clean, organized, and running like clockwork. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed, and your pride in Old Mill shows in everything you do. We appreciate you more than words can say!

Let’s give it up for our second grade stars—Mrs. Osborne, Mrs. Polson, Mrs. Welch, and Ms. Marinesi! You balance high expectations with big hearts, and your classrooms are full of wonder, warmth, and growth. Thank you for the joy you bring to your students every day!

Good Luck to our OMES Archery team. They will be shooting at 10:15 at the National Archery Tournament tomorrow morning!

A huge thank you to the Calhoun Family and our amazing PTO for treating us to delicious muffins and a fantastic lunch today! And many thanks to State Farm for the beautiful (and tasty!) cake that added the perfect finishing touch to our day!

To our amazing bus drivers—you are the first friendly face many of our students see each morning, and the last one they see at the end of the day. Thank you for keeping our Koalas safe and cared for on their journeys to and from school. Your role is essential, and we are so grateful!

This week's student spotlight goes out to Julia, Nyxen, Maddie, and Valarie. "Shoutout to these amazing fifth graders for putting together a fantastic math lesson for our first-grade students! The little ones had a blast learning from and spending time with their fifth-grade teachers. Thank you all for your hard work and leadership!" -Mr. Ezell

🏈💙❤️ It’s a House Divided here at Old Mill! Team CATs or Team CARDS—who’s gonna take the win?! 💥
🧢 Don’t forget—tomorrow is $1 Hat Day in support of our Special Olympics fundraiser! Every dollar gets dropped in your team’s bucket, so rep your team with pride and let’s fill those buckets, Koalas! 🐨💰

Our first grade team—Mrs. Bray, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Jump, and Mr. Ezell—brings learning to life with love and laughter. You build confidence, curiosity, and character in every child who walks through your doors. Thank you for all you do to make first grade such a special place to grow!

Let’s give a big round of applause to our café crew! From early mornings to lunchtime rushes, you serve with a smile and make sure our students are well-fed and ready to learn. Your kindness and consistency make a huge impact every single day. We appreciate you so much!

Today was another incredible day of Staff Appreciation Week at Old Mill!
We were so excited to host Craig’s Jamerican and Mr. Tea food trucks—thank you for filling our day with flavor and fun! Big thanks to Church of the Crossroads for the sweet delivery of Nothing Bundt Cakes! And our staff lit up with joy as classroom wishlist goodies were delivered straight to their doors. We’re so grateful for our amazing team!

Have you heard the exciting news?!
Our natural playground is officially open, and Phase 1 is complete! Thanks to the support of our PTO and school community, students are already enjoying the slide, obstacle course, sand pit, and climbing rocks—and they LOVE it!
The next round of APEX fundraising will help bring Phase 2 to life, and we can’t wait to keep building this outdoor space where learning and play come together.

Let’s hear it for our incredible Related Arts team—Mrs. Compton, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Boston, and Mrs. Biglari! From creativity in the arts to movement, music, and innovation, you each bring something special to our students’ day. You help our Koalas express themselves, explore their talents, and experience learning in meaningful, hands-on ways. Thank you for making Old Mill a vibrant and dynamic place to grow!
