Class Spotlight: Mrs. Welch’s Students
Shout-out to Mrs. Welch’s class! While reviewing expectations, we talked about focusing on being productive collaborators. Before I could even continue, the students jumped right in and began identifying other Graduate Profile skills they knew they would need to be successful with their challenge.
Their awareness, reflection, and ownership of their learning were incredible to see. This class truly understands what it means to grow, work together, and strive for success. Way to go, Mrs. Welch’s class you’re shining examples of what learner empowerment looks like!

Bullitt East Newspaper Staff Inspires Our 5th Grade Journalists!
This week, the Bullitt East newspaper team visited our 5th graders to share how real reporters gather facts, interview sources, and write strong stories.
Their visit kicks off our next Social Studies unit, where students will become Revolutionary War journalists and explore: “How can we tell the stories of the Revolution to help others understand its impact?”

Today our 4th graders stepped into detective mode and modeled true Proactive Collaboration—a key part of our Bullitt County Graduate Profile.
They analyzed clues, shared math strategies, and used multi-digit multiplication to solve their case files.

Our kindergarten students are diving into fables and lessons learned through storytelling! 📚
After identifying the message and moral in each story, they will create illustrations for our preschool students and teach them about the important lessons characters learn.
We love watching our youngest learners become teachers, leaders, and storytellers!

🧠 Learning + Creating in STEAM!
Our 4th graders have been taking their thinking to the next level with Mrs. Compton as they explore the human brain. Students identified the major parts of the brain, learned what each part is responsible for, and are now beginning to design and sculpt their own brain models to show their understanding.
We love seeing hands-on learning, creativity, and real-world application come to life at Old Mill! 💡
We’re excited to share that our Central/East End Family Night for Multilingual Families is happening this Thursday from 5:30–7:00 PM at Shepherdsville Elementary!

Digging into history! Our third graders transformed into paleontologists today and unearthed fossils right on our playground as part of our Kentucky Then and Now unit!
