Deadline: September 5th
Prize: The winning student’s design will be featured on the cover AND they will receive a free yearbook!

🌟Today's Spotlight: Learning Excursions! 🌟
On Mondays, our 3rd–5th-grade Koalas come together during Related Arts for one big Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit. To kick things off, students are exploring our Graduate Profile Competencies—starting with what it means to be an Effective Communicator.
🎨 In STEAM, students took on a fun “Back-to-Back Drawing” challenge! One partner described a hidden picture while the other had to draw it—relying only on listening and clear directions. This strengthened their skills in giving precise instructions and being active listeners.
🏃♂️ In PE, our Koalas worked through teamwork challenges like the “Human Knot” and the “Hula Hoop Team Challenge.” These activities encouraged them to listen carefully, collaborate, and share ideas—skills that are just as important in life as they are in school.
We are so proud of the way our Koalas are already connecting the Graduate Profile to their own learning journey! 💙🐨

This first week back, our community partners went above and beyond to spoil us! 💛
✨ PTO – Kicked off opening day with a delicious breakfast and treated us midweek with a much-needed caffeine station!
✨ Church of the Crossroads – Provided breakfast on our first day with students and surprised Mrs. Biglari with a brand-new shed to store all her treasures for performances!
✨ Mt. Washington Smoothies – Helped us power through Friday with energizing teas to get over that final hump of the week!
We are so grateful for the love and support from our amazing community—it makes all the difference! 🐨💙

We are excited to officially reintroduce Mrs. Jessie Thompson as Old Mill Elementary’s new Assistant Principal! Mrs. Thompson joined our leadership team this spring, and many of you already know her from her time here as a dedicated Special Education teacher. She brings a deep love for our students, a passion for supporting staff, and a commitment to helping Old Mill continue to shine. We’re thrilled for her to step into this new role and can’t wait for you to see the amazing impact she will make!

First Day of School: Tuesday, our doors open promptly at 8:30 AM, and we'll be ready to greet your students with open arms!
Car Riders & Walkers: Please ensure your child has their car rider tag if applicable. If your child walks, remind them to follow safety routines. We appreciate your patience and understanding with transportation during this first week—it’s going to be a busy time as we settle in.
Lunchroom Visitors: We’re looking forward to hosting visitor lunches, but that will begin after Labor Day. This allows us a little time to nail down our lunchroom procedures and maintain a smooth routine.
